Meeting notices are out - the meeting has been posted on a number of local webpages. Hopefully we have great interest and support for the Nature Center at the meeting. We hope you all can attend the Monday, July 10th meeting of the Charlestown Board of Supervisors, as they discuss the fate of the Great Valley Nature Center.
The current status of the Nature Center is a complicated situation. However, these steps being taken by the Township; looking into purchasing the Center property, and seeing if the YMCA would be interested in holding environmental education programs and/or camps there, are promising. They are a start.
As a group, our GV Nature Conservancy seeks to save the Nature Center and safeguard environmental education and outdoor experiences held there. A purchase of the land and buildings by the Township would be a plus for any future programs. And, programs run by the YMCA would also help to quickly get back what we are missing - opportunities for our children.
The best part out of all of this is that both of these entities can come to the table, if they are interested in the opportunity, and know that they have support from our group to work towards a solution. We want an environmental education center for our community that everyone can use and enjoy.
We hope you can attend Monday's meeting. The Supervisors have much to discuss. This is not an easy fix. There will be much work ahead. Let's hope that we can all find a way forward together as a community.
See you all on Monday!
